Shelley Klev (née Forsyth)
December 17, 1933 – October 5, 2026
With love and sadness, the family announces the passing of their beloved mother and grandmother, Shelley Klev, late of Prince Albert. Shelley passed away peacefully at Good Shepherd Villas on October 5, 2026, at 92 years of age.
Shelley leaves to mourn her daughter, Lynn; daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandsons, Eric and Andrew; and nephew, Larry Leland. She was predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Arvid; son, Peter; parents, Newt and Mabel; granddaughter, Courtenay; sister, Joan Leland; brother-in-law, Donald Leland; and nephews, Dougie Leland and Gary Leland.
Shelley was loving, kind, and generous—the rock that centred her family. We will miss her laughter, enthusiasm, and support. She grew up on the family farm south of Kinistino during the Depression and the Second World War. Despite the hardships, she fondly remembered the close community of friends and relatives in the area. She attended Weldon High School, where she met Arvid, and graduated in 1951. Shelley then attended Teachers’ College and began teaching at the one-room Mount Forest School near Melfort, followed by the elementary school in Kinistino.
Seperately in Prince Albert in the mid-50s, Arvid opened Klev’s Grocery and Shelley taught at Vincent Massey and King George Schools. They married in 1956. Peter was born in 1957 and Lynn in 1960. Shelley stayed home to raise the children, returning to teaching in 1966 at Arthur Pechey and King George Schools. From 1976 to 1984, Shelley took a break from the classroom, taking up pottery, working in retail, and tutoring at a learning clinic. In her 50s, Shelley returned to school and earned her Bachelor of Education from the University of Saskatchewan. From 1989 until her retirement in 1999, Shelley used her special gift for teaching children to read as a resource room teacher at W.J. Berezowsky and Arthur Pechey Schools.
She was thrilled when her son Peter married Debbie in 1985 and thrilled once again upon the birth of her grandson Eric. Devastation followed with the tragic loss of Peter in 1993. Hope returned with the birth of her grandson Andrew seven months later.
Shelley and her family enjoyed time at Christopher Lake and Waskesiu before building a cabin of her own design at Candle Lake in 1976. The family enjoyed summers and Christmas seasons there for many wonderful years.
Special thanks to the staff of Good Shepherd Villas for their care and support.
In lieu of other tributes, donations in Shelley’s memory may be made to Rose Garden Hospice, 500 38th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0A3.
