Sheila Lavinia Maria Priestley (née Anderson) passed away peacefully on March 7th, 2024, at the Rose Garden Hospice, at the age of 85 years. She was born June 25th, 1938, in Prince Albert, SK. She grew up on the family farm in the Wild Rose area until she left to pursue an education which was followed by a career in nursing. Sheila graduated in 1959 with a diploma in nursing. That same year she married Edward Priestley. They settled down in Prince Albert, SK, where they raised their four children. Sheila worked for her entire career as a Registered Nurse, first at the Victoria Long Term Care Home, then at the Herb Basset Home until her retirement in 1996. Sheila and Edward lived together in Prince Albert until 2023, when her health and mobility began to decline, and she moved to the Kopera Care home.
Sheila is remembered as a strong and loving mom, grandmother, and confidant of the family. She especially loved her grandchildren. Sheila spent many hours knitting, cross-stitching, and crocheting and enjoyed many other arts and crafts. Her many paintings are now the treasured gifts of her family and friends. She also sewed and beaded many figure skating dresses. Sheila also loved to travel and did so as much as she could with her friends and family. She will be dearly missed by her family.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Edward; son, Barry (Karen) Priestley of Choiceland, SK, and their children, Heather and Edward; daughter, Debbie (Sean) McAlpine of Prince Albert, SK, and children, Leigh and Ian; son, Bryan (Misil) Priestley of Saskatoon, SK, and their son Nicholas; daughter, Sandra Priestley of Saskatoon, SK, and her children, Jacob and Brynn.
Sheila was predeceased by her parents, John and Annie Anderson and her brother, John.
We are deeply grateful to the staff of Kopera Care Home, the Victoria Hospital, and Rose Garden Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care they gave to mom.
