Scott Michael Read
July 29, 1980 – January 13, 2014
It is with profound sadness that the family of Scott Michael Read of Toronto, ON announce his sudden passing on Monday, January 13, 2014 at the young age of 33 years. Scott was raised in the Prince Albert and Spruce Home area. He attended Spruce Home School and graduated from Wesmor High School. He was a very brilliant individual and worked very hard. Upon graduating from Grade 12 he was awarded with The Governor General’s Award for Proficiency. He was so proud of his accomplishments. He then went on to study at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon where he received a Bachelor of Education with Great Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies with Great Distinction. He taught school at Rundle College in Calgary, AB. Scott loved to teach. He later moved to Toronto and lived with his very special friend Christopher Smith until his time of passing. Scott was a person who loved life. He loved to laugh, tell jokes and his smile was infectious. He had a great love of music and attended many concerts and open-air festivals. He was a very accomplished cook and was always trying new recipes. Some of his fondest memories were at his grandparents’ cottage at Emma Lake, and his life at the farm. Scott is survived by his mother Brenda (Sam) Tubman; his father Terry Read; his grandparents Eugene and Doreen Kapacila; his step-brother Tony (Colleen) Tubman; his step-sister Cheryl Tubman (Todd); a very special friend Christopher Smith; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and good friends. He was predeceased by his grandparents Stuart and Margaret Read; his great-grandparents Maynard and Velma Morash and Dave and Katherine Kapacila. He will be sadly missed by all those who loved him or were touched by his life. Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, 2014, at Gray’s Funeral Chapel with Pastor Iris Kristjandottir officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes memorial donations would be gratefully accepted in Scott’s memory to the Prince Albert SPCA, 680 – 10th Street East, Prince Albert, SK S6V 2W2.
