Sandy Ericson
NewPosted 30 minutes ago

On May 12, 2026 our mother, daughter, grandmother, aunty, sister, and friend, took her last breath.
Sandy (Sandra Lynn) Ericson was born in the fall in Northern Saskatchewan. It was fitting that it was here that she closed her eyes for the last time, and we were unexpectedly forced to say goodbye.
Sandy spent her childhood on the shores of Churchill Lake, surrounded by family and loved unconditionally.
After losing her dad, the family lived in southern Manitoba before returning to the north. It was here that Sandy had kids of her own. When her kids were in elementary school, Sandy went back to school, where her spark for social justice was ignited.
Her career spanned two provinces where she gave so much to so many, always striving to make the lives of everyone she met, better.
Sandy loved denim, she wore a jean jacket as formal wear, and was proud of her Indigenous heritage.
Sandy loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren and all those she opened her home to when they needed a safe place to fall. This was her calling.
In later years she returned to the north to lead her community as Mayor through difficult times. She served on numerous boards including the local Friendship Centre and was a proud representative of the Provincial Metis Women’s Group. We are so proud of what she did to ensure that everyone was treated fairly.
We have many stories to tell and lessons we have learned along the way from having Sandy in our life. We will leave you with this:
Sandy would want us to be kind to everyone we meet as we do not know the burdens they carry. Forgive easily and remove anger as quickly as possible.
Surround yourself with the love of family and friends and celebrate all this life has to offer.
Walk your path with courage. Know that this life goes by quickly.
Until we meet again.
A Celebration of Sandy’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at 4:00pm at the Lakeview Complex in Buffalo Narrows, SK.
