Sandra Ruznisky
2022
Sandra Ruznisky’s loving and compassionate life ended unexpectedly at home on September 11, 2022.
Sandra Maria Ruznisky was the first daughter born to proud parents Steve and Rose Ruznisky. She spent her formative years in the East Central area of Prince Albert where she was an outstanding student throughout her grade schooling at Saint Mark Elementary School. Sandra excelled in her high school education at the Academy Presentation of Mary. She then attended the University of Saskatchewan where she obtained a Bachelor of Education degree with Distinction and a Bachelor of Arts degree. Sandra started teaching in Cold Lake, Alberta, but soon returned to Prince Albert to teach for her entire exemplary career with the Prince Albert Catholic School Division.
Sandra loved teaching in all major subjects and her kind, patient, guiding approach made her a favourite of colleagues and students. She volunteered considerable hours to help students in many extracurricular endeavours as well as assisted colleagues with her thorough, scholarly style. Sandra was so influential and successful in her teaching, she was asked to substitute teach almost daily for years post-retirement. Her devotion to academia continued through her 22 years as a board member for Rivier Academy.
While Sandra is most frequently defined by her teaching, her teaching did not define her. She loved the outdoors, particularly northern Saskatchewan and she and Barry lived lakefront at Emma Lake for many years. She revered nature, demonstrated by her many plants, flowers, trees and shrubs. Her yard was an expression of the beauty, calmness and serenity that was Sandra. She loved animals, especially birds. She had many beautiful bird feeders around her home. She was particularly attached to her rescue cats and leaves behind purrfect, precious Miss Kitty.
She was also known for her style. Her perfectly coordinated outfits and impeccable appearance were so characteristic of her.
Her Catholic faith was manifested through her everyday living. She was humble, understanding and kind hearted. She extended a helping hand to any and all in need.
Sandra loved to travel, to seek, to learn and to involve in other cultures and places. She looked forward to tropical climates and travelled to many warm beach destinations, Hawaii being one of her favourites. You could count on her to return to Prince Albert from her winter holiday with a beautiful tan that emphasized her dazzling smile.
Sandra radiated warmth, love, class, dignity and gentility. She was a daughter, wife, sister, friend, colleague, teacher. Sandra is irreplaceable.
Sandra is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Barry Neschuk; her sisters, Jackie and Sonja (Duncan McArthur); her sister-in-law, Joan Benvenuti; her aunt, Ann Ruznisky; numerous relatives and countless friends; as well as two great-nieces, two great-nephews and their children.
She was predeceased by her parents, Steve and Rose Ruznisky; her in-laws, Nick and Mary Neschuk; her nephew, Robbie Benvenuti; and many aunts, uncles and four cousins.
