Sandra Helen Bodnarchuk (nee: Kapacila)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother/Baba, Sandra Bodnarchuk. Sandra passed away peacefully at the age of 78 on March 9, 2012 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was born on November 16, 1933 in Vonda, SK. At the age of 17 she met and married her life partner Morris Bodnarchuk. They farmed in Meacham, SK until moving to Birch Hills in 1959 to continue farming with their three sons born in 1954, 1955, and 1956. In 1966 a long-awaited daughter finally arrived. Mom’s incredible work ethic and determination led this town girl to learn to milk cows, feed pigs and chickens, haul grain, garden and so much more. In 1979 they moved to Prince Albert to enjoy their retirement. She loved spending time at their cabin at Emma Lake. The cabin was where friends and family met, played music, enjoyed each others’ company and no one ever went hungry. Her passions were cooking, baking, fishing, and her family. She loved her time at the lake with family and friends and welcomed everyone. She was a kind and gentle soul who left a soft but memorable impression on everyone she met. She is survived by her loving husband Morris of 60 years, three sons: Terry (Loreen), Bob (JoAnne) and Ron (Pat) all of Birch Hills; one daughter: Patty (Bill) Darchuk of Lloydminster; seven grandchildren: Tim, Amy, Adam, Brett (Jenn), Danielle, Michael (Tabetha Person) and Cheryl (Owen) Clayton; and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister Irene Kindrachuk of Wakaw and one brother Eugene (Doreen) Kapacila of Prince Albert as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Janice Kapacila for all your help and support in mom’s care, and also to Donna Kindrachuk and Barb Levesque for your special attention. It meant so much to her. Also to Bartley Quibell and his staff for your special care. Mom, you were the center of our family. We all love you so very much and you will be dearly missed. Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, March 12, 2012 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 13, 2012 at the Holy Trinity Ukrainian Orthodox Church. 305 – 6th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Father Michael Lomaszkiewicz officiating. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to Charity of Donor's Choice.
