It is with great sadness that the family of Sandra Gareau announces her passing on October 24, 2026, at the age of 75.
Born on December 21, 1950, in Prince Albert, SK to Albert and Wanda McCalmon, mom attended school and graduated in Paddockwood, SK. Soon after she graduated, she attended a community dance and met her future husband, Bernie, who just so happened to also be moving to Saskatoon for school. Mom attended the nursing program at SIAST and moved on to become a registered nurse.
Mom and dad got married on October 9, 1971, and moved to Tisdale. This was short lived, as they got jobs and moved to Big River. They stayed in Big River for two years before moving to Prince Albert, where they built their life for the next 52 years. Family was important to mom, and she enjoyed watching and supporting her sons, grand and great-grandchildren in their various activities. She loved to tell stories, had a great memory, and had an uncanny ability to recall facts about everyone she met.
She also loved to travel with her husband, with a particular fondness for Las Vegas, and in 2019 planned a whole family trip to Mexico. Mom had a soft spot for animals, especially dogs. Throughout her life she always had a dog in the house.
Sandra will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 55 years, Bernie, and her children, Chad (Sherry), Shawn (Jenna) and Ryan (Julie). Sandra will also be fondly remembered by her seven grandchildren, Ashley (Brendin) St Amand, Noah Gareau, Connor Gareau, Kain Gareau, Jackson Gareau, Xander Gareau and Zoe Gareau; and, her two great-grandchildren, London and Atticus St Amand.
Mom will be sadly missed by her husband and her family. We know mom is in a better place and looking down on us. We love and miss you.
A private family interment will occur at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, donations in Sandra’s memory can be made to the Prince Albert SPCA.
