It is with great sadness that we announce that Samuel Kirk Christopher Green passed away peacefully on October 7, 2023 surrounded by family and love. Samuel was born February 25, 1936 in Crooked River, Saskatchewan. He had an interesting mix of careers to support his family and a passion for trains developed from his early years with the CPR. He was an early environmentalist and his crowning commercial endeavour was the creation of ‘Green Line’, a family-operated organic products distribution firm. Sam enjoyed fishing trips with his father, brothers and sons, cheering for the Blue Jays, playing and coaching hockey, and was well-read on current events in the world around him. Many enjoyable summers and early years of retirement were spent at East Trout Lake.
Family was everything to Samuel and we are heartened that he was able to attend a large family reunion in July surrounded by siblings, children, nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Samuel is predeceased by Beverley Green, his childhood sweetheart and loving wife of 56 years; his parents, Ida and Sam Green; and siblings Donny Green, Doris Grieves and David Green.
He will be lovingly missed by children Janet Corrigal(Jay), Sandra Byggdin(Vern), Kevin Green(Sarah), Brendan Green(Vicki), Christa Dybvig(Stacy); grandchildren Bryn Pruden (Mitchell), Jerad Green (Lindsay), Kaylee Moos (Brant), Kelsey Routley (Tyson), Jordyn Dybvig, Katelyn Dybvig and Landon Green; 12 great grandchildren and siblings Margery McIntosh, sister-in-law Lenore Green, Marion Wonitowy, Bev Kurtz(Leon), Grant Green(Dawn), Joe Green (Linda).
The family acknowledges and thanks the St. Paul’s Palliative Care nurses for their very kind and exceptionally compassionate care.
A celebration of life will be held on Thursday November 2, 2023 at 2:00pm at Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel, (915 Acadia Drive, Saskatoon, SK). A private internment will occur at a later date. Arrangements are in care of Mourning Glory-Acadia McKague’s Funeral Chapel (306)955-1600.
It is the family’s request that a donation be made to the Saskatchewan Cancer Agency or the St. Paul’s Hospital Palliative Care Unit in lieu of flowers.
