1944-2014
Ruth Dryka (nee Acorn) after a courageous battle with cancer, peacefully passed away with all of her children, brothers and sisters by her side. Ruth will now be reunited with her husband and will start a new home with God. Ruth was born on October 23rd, 1944 to Roy and Mabel Acorn. They resided for her entire childhood life on the family farm in Spruce Home, SK and was the third child of six siblings. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Roy and Mabel and is survived by her five siblings; Donna (Cameron Davidson), Terry (Eleanor), Murray (Marlene), Don (Lois) and Kevin (Twyla) and all of her nieces and nephews. If you knew Ruth, you would know that she was truly a giving person, it was always about ensuring everyone was looked after. It was no surprise she entered Nursing as her chosen profession. Soon after that she met her husband Frank Dryka who predeceased Ruth. They built a house in Prince Albert and it soon became a home with the addition of three children. She is survived by her children Frank (Jodi) and their sons Jameison and Austin; Jayleen (Burt) Young and their children Landan and Ruthy; and Kim (Lisa) and their son Travis. Ruth was the cornerstone of the Dryka household and has passed on the strong family values they live at this time, she lived her life for her family. Ruth was predeceased by her mother and father in-law Walter and Mary Dryka and her grandson Morgan Young. She is survived by her uncle Harry Bennett. Ruth and the entire family would like to thank the entire staff on the fifth floor at the Victoria Hospital. That was the ward that mom worked on and she would be proud of her colleagues (past and present) for the unbelievable help and compassion they showed. The family asks that in lieu of any tributes memorial donations can be made to Palliative Care- 5th floor at the Victoria Hospital. A Celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at 1:30pm on Thursday March 20, 2014 at the Gateway Covenant Church 1500- 15th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Pastor Shane Acorn officiating, all of those that shared in Ruth’s life are invited to this special event to remember her life.
