It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Russell Ketzmerick on August 26th, 2024, at the age of 84 with his wife of 45 years, Mary by his side.
Russell was born and spent his entire life in Saskatchewan, working the family farm in Raymore while growing up. Russell left home at a young age and worked very hard making his way to La Ronge. He worked building highways to the north of La Ronge, worked in the mine and eventually became a beloved and indispensable school division employee, known as the man that could build and fix anything. Russell absolutely loved the lake, building several cabins on La Ronge Lake and earning a well-deserved reputation as a spectacular carpenter and fisherman. Russell had a “green thumb” and took such pride in his garden and sharing the bounty with family and friends. He instilled the love of nature and fishing in his children and grandchildren alike, a passion they carry forward today and have passed on to his great grandchildren. After retirement, Russell and Mary moved to Prince Albert, settling on an acreage on the outskirts of the city. Russell planted and nurtured a spectacular shelter belt around the acreage which along with a massive garden was his pride and joy. In the winter Russell loved curling and won many trophies. Russell and Mary were avid bowlers making many great friends and taking pride in their trophy wins. Though Russell was a home body, he and Mary enjoyed their trips to Yuma, Arizona cruising the highway in his beloved Impala.
Russell will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife Mary; children Debra Ketzmerick, Sandra Trudel (Claude), Murray Ketzmerick (Michele) and Christa Ketzmerick (Perry); as well as grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Russell’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024, at Plaza 88, 888 Central Ave, Prince Albert, SK
