RUBY JOSEPHINE THOMAS (MEDD) Dec22, 1932- Oct.7 2013
Ruby was born in Prince Albert and grew up in the Steep Creek district, attending the Steep Creek and Saskatchewan Forks schools. She graduated from the Victoria Hospital School of Nursing and worked as an RN for many years. Ruby worked with the Boy Scouts of America for more than 4o years and was the recipient of the Silver Beaver Award. She was a 21 year retired member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary in Virginia. She retired as a school bus driver aide in her area.
Ruby and her family resided in many parts of the world, settling in Fredericksburg, Virginia where they built their home in a beautiful rural area.
Survived by her husband Gordon, son’s Stewart and Craig, daughter Shannon Hardy, grandchildren John and David Thomas, Sara and Christen Green, Rachel Deskins and Austin Hardy; and great-grandchildren Madelyn and Landon Deskins, her brother Ernest Medd of Steep Creek and sister Alice (Hubert Smith) of Marcelin.
Ruby was predeceased by her son Bruce, daughter Dorthea Green, parents Jack and Pearl Medd.
Funeral was held on Oct. 10th at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg, Virginia
