Ruby Eileen Harrison (nee McKay)
(1921-2013)
Born in Duck Lake, Sask., Ruby grew up in Prince Albert. Except for a few war years spent in Edmonton, Alberta and Barrie, Ont., Ruby spent most of her life in Prince Albert as a homemaker. Though her many siblings moved to British Columbia during the depression years, Ruby married and remained a Saskatchewan girl. Throughout her life, she idolized her grandfather, ‘Gentleman’ Joe McKay, a Northwest Mounted Police Officer and scout of Riel Resistance fame, because “he was a nice man.” Predeceased by her husband, Lance Harrison, in 1979, Ruby made Saskatoon her home in 1981. Ruby is survived by her sons Gerald (Tejwant) and Robert (Elaine Sukava), her grandson Niran (Audrey Peng), and 15 month-old great grandson Jackson. Ruby died peacefully on Nov. 6, 2013 after a long illness. A memorial service is planned for the summer of 2014 at the historic St. Mary’s cemetery just west of Prince Albert. Further details will follow at a later date. Cremation . Arrangements are entrusted to Saskatoon Funeral Home. Ph 306-244-5577
