On Friday, June 12, 2015, at the age of 86 years, Ruby Annabelle (Weber) Borix, our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother and Friend found peace and left us. Ruby was born on December 1, 1928 to John and Wilma Weber in Radcliffe Twp, Ontario. As a small child she moved to Delisle, SK where she grew up. She had seven siblings: Ted, Dorothy, Leona, Verna, Louis, Gordon and Pearl. As a young woman Ruby worked in Saskatoon. In 1946, she married Edward Michael Borix with whom she shared sixty nine years of marriage. They were blessed with five children: Judy, Edward Jr, Wayne, Terry and Ron. Their children brought them seven grandchildren and eventually sixteen great-grandchildren: Shannon (Darryl) – Olivia & Jonathon, Carrie (Ryan) – Joelle, Dean & Alex, Jennifer (Chris) – Harper, Christopher (Samantha) – Petra, Kale & Carter, Ashley (Thomas) – Ava & Paisley, Danielle – Jazpen, Shanae & Cruz, Shawn – Sophie & Nicholas. During retirement, Ruby and Ed enjoyed many years attending polka fests, golfing, camping, and fishing. They even had the experience of travelling to Alaska together twice – it was a country and scenery that they loved together. Family was important and meant the world to Ruby. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always put a big smile on her face. Ruby and Ed kept a very neat and immaculate yard. Together, they loved to garden, smell the lilacs, and pick their raspberries and saskatoon berries. They enjoyed many meals with fresh radishes, lettuce, and cucumbers, and when the season was done they would work to preserve and can what they could. Ruby had a love for hummingbirds, peonies, red geraniums, yellow roses, and ice cream cones, and she loved to fish. Ruby and Ed enjoyed sitting on their backyard swing. Her love of gardening has been passed on and is enjoyed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In the winter months, Ruby loved to watch figure skating and curling, and was an avid hockey fan. Ed and Ruby held P.A. Raider Hockey Season tickets for many years. She would cheer loud and hard and loved to give the referees a hard time, often on the edge of her seat. She also had a love for Elvis. Ruby was predeceased by her parents John (Wilma) Weber, her parents-in-law Nicholas (Annie) Borix, her sister Pearl Gilbertson, her brother Ted Weber, and her son Wayne. Ruby will be lovingly remembered by those who live on without her, including her husband, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Ruby may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 54 11 Street East, Prince Albert, S6V 0Z9.
