Roy Arnold Muller
1934 – 2013
Roy Arnold Muller passed away at the Shellbrook Hospital on November 24, 2013. Roy was born on May 14, 1934 to Ernest and Annie (Kelly) Muller on the family farm. Roy married Tena Thiessen on May 10, 1954. After their marriage, Roy and Tena took up farming. Grandpa (Ernest) gave Roy 80 acres (the old home place), and then later sold them the balance of the quarter. Later on Roy bought the adjoining “Hegbergs” quarter from Ernest and George. In 1967 Roy and Tena bought their final farm residence from Lloyd Muller. Roy and Tena went on to have six children. Roy served terms from 1960 to 1963 and from 1974 to 1987 as a Councillor for Division 5 for the Rural Municipality of Leask. Roy and Tena discontinued farming and had a farm equipment auction on October 17, 1986. At that time Roy, his son Warren, and Eugene LaLonde became partners in a grocery store in LaLoche. After some time in the North, Roy chose to take up farming again on a smaller scale. He always enjoyed buying and selling anything from livestock to equipment. In 1969 he had the first Moto-Ski proving ground in the area – the kids loved this as someone had to “test drive” the product! He especially enjoyed the competition of a good auction sale and bringing home many “treasures”. Roy also loved to travel, having many adventures, some being very recent. During the last couple years, Roy lived in Parkside until health issues would no longer allow him to live on his own. He had often said that he didn't want to fade away in a nursing home and more or less he passed away having lived the way he wanted to live.
Roy is survived by his six children: Peggy Day (Steve Baker) of Winnipeg, MB; Gerald (Donna Nagy) of Bayside, NS; Gale Parchoma of Calgary, AB; and Warren (Janice Ferster); Colin (Karen Puddicombe); and Lesa Boudreault, all of Shellbrook, SK; nine grandchildren: April Parchoma (Jonas), Elyse (Emilio) Portal, Tara (Shaun) Kerber, Dionne Muller (Val), Jody (Myron) Conrad, Ernest Muller (Lindsay), Stephanie (Brent) Tournier, Seth and Eric Boudreault: four great grandchildren: Lynden & Addison Kerber, Kaycee Muller, and Grayson Conrad: and his brother Lloyd (Doreen) Muller, and his mother in-law Annie Thiessen of Spiritwood who recently celebrated her 100th Birthday. Roy was predeceased by his wife Tena who passed away on November 19, 1996, his parents Ernest and Annie Muller, his sister Grace, his brother George, and his father in-law Henry Thiessen.
As for Roy's wishes there will be no funeral service held. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
