Rose Buyan
1934 – 2023
The family of Rose Buyan are deeply grieving the loss of their mom, who peacefully passed on October 25, 2023 at Wakaw Lake View Pioneer Lodge at the age of 89 years young. Mom was born in Foxford, Saskatchewan on June 18, 1934.
Rose will be remembered for her beautiful smile, her strength and positivity. She always had an ear to listen and a heart of wisdom to share her stories and experiences with her family. She loved all her family. Growing up in the dirty 30’s was a challenge, she worked hard in her youth and this work ethic continued when she married her husband Bill and they had their own farm along with raising their three beautiful children Bev, Betty, and Brian. Rose could tell you everything about farm life from the equipment, the crops, the cattle, and her flower and vegetable gardens. Her hard work and efforts outside would come to fruition inside as well; Rose was an excellent cook and baker. Rose later worked at Canadian Tire in Saskatoon, she was so proud of her job and enjoyed working there until she retired at the age of 62 and moved back to Prince Albert to be with her family. She made many friends during her working life where she found new hobbies in bowling, golfing, and crafting.
Rose enjoyed golfing with the ladies at Mark’s 9, or beating her grandsons at a round or two. She loved watching her grandchildren play sports, she never missed a game and travelled all over to ensure she could be there supporting everyone in hockey, softball, volleyball, or soccer. Rose was a fantastic cook and enjoyed baking buns, pies, and cinnamon buns. She loved having her family over to heat up her apartment with the best and biggest meal of homemade perogies, cabbage rolls, and turkey dinner. She would beam with pride to see that everyone’s bellies were full and that her family was together to enjoy it.
Rose was an avid gardener and had the best green thumb, indoor and outdoor plants would always flourish in her care. It was during her years at her 28th street apartment, that she was the resident gardener and established many long-term friendships at this complex. Grandma Rose always had an open door for grandkids and welcomed the many visits.
Rose is survived by her children Bev Sadler (Alan Bork), Betty (Bruce) Pask, Brian Buyan; and her grandchildren, Matthew (Meagan) Sadler, Michael Sadler, April (Colin) Schick, Danny Pask, Kevin (Erin) Buyan, Jenny (Karsten) Felske, Heather (Owen) Roschuk, Benjamin Buyan. Rose was blessed to have many great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Stella Jones and Bev Bartkow. She is predeceased by her husband, Bill Buyan and brothers, Walter and John Bartkow.
The family would like to send a special thanks to Wakaw Lake View Pioneer Lodge for the wonderful care they gave to Mom in her last few months.
A Private Family Service will be held.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306) 922-4729, Paula Hanson, Funeral Director and Mary MacWilliams.
