Ronald Thorpe passed away on Aug 2, 2016, at Pineview Terrance in Prince Albert, SK. Ron was born in Naicam, SK, on Dec 16, 1932 and raised in Lac Vert, SK. Ron is survived by his loving wife of 60 years: Delores (nee Taylor) and their children: Wendy (Alan) Weir, Danny (Liz) Thorpe, Penny (Tom) Mitchell- Moylneux, Kathy Thorpe and Kim (Kathy) Thorpe; his grandchildren: Christopher, Kimberly (Jordan Peterson), Bradly and Sarah Weir, Ryan Thorpe, Brandy Mohr, Tara (Chad) Mohr-Kallstrom and Jolene Mohr; his great-grandchildren: Terrance, Lucas and Kaylee Peterson, Braden, Shanna Rae and Rylee Arcand, Mercedes, Jace, Zehrra Kallstrom and Zakary Mohr-Cheers; his special sister: Gwenn Thorpe; his sisters-in-law: Elaine Thorpe, Bev Kirkland, Elaine (Selmer) Gullikson and Diane Matheson. Ron had many friends, cousins, nieces and nephews that also held a special place in his heart. Ron was pre-deceased by his parents: Vern and Ida Thorpe; his brothers: Glenn and wives Eileen and Helen, Rodney and Harold Thorpe; his brothers-in-law: Danny Taylor and wife Joyce, Robert Taylor and wives Shirley and Susan. Ron was a very hard working and committed family man. He was always ready to give a helping hand to anyone without expecting it in return. His greatest saying was “If you can’t say anything nice about someone, then don’t say anything at all”. Ron worked 35 years for SaskPower; 18 years in Meath Park and 10 years in Birch Hills where he retired as the Charge District Operator there. Ron enjoyed fun and quiet times with family and friends over the years; especially at Candle Lake where Delores and Ron lived upon his retirement. He loved to feed the deer, go fishing, ride his 3 wheeler, play cards or just go for a drive. When their move to Prince Albert happened, he still pushed snow with his quad to the delight of his neighbours. His greatest love, other than his wife Delores, was hunting. Fun times were had on those hunting trips with family and friends. Bringing home some wild meat to fill the freezer was just a bonus. When his hunting years were over, he immensely enjoyed looking for animal tracks or game while driving with his son Danny. Ron will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him. Interment will take place on Tuesday, August 9, 2016 at 10:30 am at Pleasantdale Cemetery, Pleasantdale, SK. Lunch and a Celebration of Life for Ron will follow in the Lac Vert Hall, Lac Vert, SK at 12.30pm.
