Ronald Skage

September 6, 1947 – March 2, 2017
On Thursday, March 2, 2017, Ronald A. Skage passed away at his home, surrounded by his family. Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Jacquie; his daughters, Jennifer Skage and Kristen (Tim) Kuhn; Jacquie’s daughters, Haley and Susan; and by his grandchildren. Ron will also be forever remembered by his sisters, Pam, Irene, and Sheila, and by his extended family, friends, and especially the many students he taught and mentored throughout the years.
Ron was born in Lacombe, Alberta, and raised near Grande Prairie, Alberta, the oldest of four children of Melvin and Catharina Skage. He attended St. Joseph’s College and the University of Alberta, and spent most of his working life as a teacher and principal. He has taught in England, the Northwest Territories, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. The relationships he formed in many of these places have lasted through the years, something Ron was very proud of.
Ron loved the outdoors, and especially northern Saskatchewan. He enjoyed boating, fishing, snowmobiling, and sharing these activities with others. He also loved literature and art, and visited Paris regularly.
Funeral Mass in memory of Ron will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK with Celebrant Reverend Father Matthew Nguyen. A brief reception will follow there.
