MANN, Ron
 

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Ronald MacIntosh Mann on December 4, 2012 at the age of 67.

Ron was born in Montreal, then lived briefly in Red Rock, Ontario and Rosetown, Saskatchewan. He moved to Prince Albert, Saskatchewan in the early 1950’s where his father Gordon Mann took ownership of Mann Motor Products. Ron attended King George School and PACI. He was an accomplished baseball player. Ron became the first Queen Scout in Prince Albert and attended the World Scout Jamboree.

Ron enjoyed helping his father with the restoration of antique cars and participated in car shows. He particularly enjoyed the 1929 Pontiac Sport roadster with the rumble seat. He was often seen touring the town or driving up to Waskesiu in it.

Ron attended the University of Saskatchewan and graduated in Civil Engineering at the University of Alberta, Edmonton. He led a varied career as an engineer, contractor, project manager, tree mover and a car salesman.

Ron loved to travel and did so all of his youth and adult life. He saw much and enjoyed all. He passed away before he could realize his dream of spending snow-free winters in the “Mexi-Mansion”.

Ron is survived by his beloved wife, Phyllis Jensen, daughter Susan (Ben) Cruise, son Richard (Sarah) Mann, grandchildren Lauren and Rylan Cruise, his brother Roger (Diane), Robert, Laura and Lindsay, and his sister Andrea Brander, Heather, Erin and Lesley. Ron was predeceased by his parents Rae and Gordon Mann.

A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at the Highway Christian Centre, 10436 – 63 Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta.

Memorial tributes may be sent to the Humane Society, 13620 – 163 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5V 0B2 to honour Ron’s love of dogs.
