Roman Tash

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Roman Tash, of Prince Albert, SK on the 24th of November, 2024 at the age of 87 years. Roman was born in Prince Albert on July 17th of 1937 to Julius & Stella Tazlikowicz. Roman was a hard worker and he had started his career in Austin’s Grocer. From there he spent four years as a surveyor working for the city of Prince Albert for several years. Roman then spent 30 years as a guard for the federal penitentiary and was proud to say that he “pulled a pension for longer than he worked”. Roman loved his career “at the pen”. He completed his much loved career with a long list of professional accomplishments, training certificates, and colourful stories that can neither be confirmed, nor denied.
In 1958, Romie met his “Eun”. Eunice was walking down the viaduct-the bridge of PA-with her friend, Bev Klarenback and her Aunt Dora. Romie was driving by: the boys gave one whistle from a 1948 dodge, and the girls hopped right in. This sparked that start of a beautiful 65-year marriage, with a winter wedding on January 30th, of 1960. Together they had 3 children; David born in 1960, Cindy born in 1963, & Chris born in 1971. Though their primary residence was always in Prince Albert, SK, they spent many summers away at the lake front cabin at Christopher Lake, SK and spent many years travelling together and with their children. Romie & Eunice rarely settled into one home for long. It was a good thing that Roman was handy with his tools, as together they built homes on 2nd street, 3rd street, and 4th street in the city before moving on to building 4 acreages just north of the city. In between building houses, Roman kept himself entertained by building a plane from the ground up and flew it to 100 mile house in BC. In most recent years, Romie settled in to an easy retainment of tinkering in the garage, having coffee with friends and sneaking in to the kitchen for a snack in the middle of the night.
Roman was best remembered as the grandpa, puttering in his garage. He adored his grandkids and would frequently take them on exciting adventures to the dump to find new projects to tinker with. He lovingly refereed to his grandsons as “bumboulas”(Jody, Brodie, & Brandon) and his grand daughters as “katchedecka” (Holly). Roman also spent plenty of time having coffee and visits with his close brother-in-laws Noland Henderson, & Dennis Struk. Though no one knows quite how to spell it, Grandpa will always be remembered for his loud exclamation of “GODEDICKY!!!!” the spelling is tricky, as he always rolled his “R” in a word that no one else could say in quite the same way, nor could anyone ever figure out where the “R” in the word was.
Roman Tash is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Eunice Tash; his daughters Cindy(Murray) Johnson & their children Holly(Dylan) Powell, & Jody Johnson; and Chris(Chad) Hintz & their children Brodie, & Brandon Hintz; his brothers Ted(Lucille) Tash, Mike Tash, & Billy Tash; his sisters Deanne(Bud) Sumners, Jean(Harold) Mallwitz, & Mary Christensen; and his sisters-in-law Jeanne Tash, Eva Tash, & Maureen Taszlikowicz.
Roman is predeceased by his parents Julius & Stella Taszlikowicz; his brothers Stan Tash, Eddy Tash, John Taszlikowicz, Gil Tashlikowich, & Andy Taszlikowicz; and his son David Tash.
