ROMAN LUBYK Sadly, our family would like to announce the passing of our patriarch – Roman Lubyk. Dad passed away peacefully on Monday, September 27, 2010 after an agonizing two-year battle with COPD. Dad and Mom fought the disease together. Dad desperately wanted to live and struggled heroically every day he was given. He showed us how to be strong and constantly reminded us to value the gift of good health. Mom was his rock and caregiver. She taught us how to be strong and how to compassionately, gently, and lovingly care for someone when they needed it most. Together, they were eternally hopeful. Although COPD took Dad from us, it showed us that we are a strong, loving, and compassionate family who, already, miss him so much. Dad's life was devoted to farming. The Lubyk homestead was farmed for one hundred years by the family – sixty-six by Dad, Mom, and my brother Lorie. Retiring from farming was very difficult but Dad often reminisced about the good and hard times and what it took to be a good farmer. Dad's eighty two year life will continue through his family – wife (Victoria Goota); four children – Bev (Jerry) Walker, Lorie (Doris) Lubyk, Debbie (Randy) Kosowan, and Irwin (Vicky) Lubyk; and two grandchildren – Danielle (Andrew Baron) Lubyk and Eric Kosowan. Remarkably, Dad also leaves – seven brothers and sisters – Paul, Alice, Tony, Harry, Clementine, Mary, and Eva. It was Dad's wish to have a private funeral with his family and very closest friends who supported and comforted him during his illness. In lieu of flowers, we would be grateful that donations be made to St. George's Church in Dad's memory. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the care of Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
