Roger Douglas Wayne Holdner, 83, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2024, at Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK. Born on August 28, 1940, in Young, SK, Roger lived a full and vibrant life.
Roger spent his early years on the family farm in Young before moving to Saskatoon at the age of 12. He attended Nutana Collegiate, where he completed his high school education. Although he briefly attended university, Roger soon discovered his true passion lay elsewhere. A businessman at heart, Roger had a natural talent for buying and selling. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to explore various ventures, including selling Fuller Brush products and driving a taxi, where he would often joke about driving more miles backward than most people did forward.
Roger eventually found his calling in the world of antiques. He dedicated the majority of his life to this passion, owning several antique stores and becoming a well-known figure in the community. His love for antiques was matched only by his love for fishing and hunting, which he enjoyed with his father, children, and grandchildren.
A man of strong faith, Roger found great joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved food, especially ice cream, spending time outdoors with nature, cherished his winters spent in Hawaii, and treasured his time at Emma Lake.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Brenda; his daughter, Mona Funk (Wayne); his son, Kevin Holdner (Debbie); his stepdaughters, Kerri Cadman (Corey) and Mandy Burns (Darcy); his grandchildren, Caleb and Natalie Funk, Joshua Bergen (Sara), Mary Grace Holdner; great-grandchildren, Grace and Hudson Bergen; step-grandchildren, Quinne, Kaden and Parker Cadman, Morgan and Ryker Burns; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends.
Roger’s legacy is one of love, laughter, and a zest for life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Monday, July 8, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4th Ave. W. Prince Albert, SK. Interment will follow at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens, Hwy 2, Prince Albert, SK. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Roger may be directed to Rose Garden Hospice, 500 38th Street W, Prince Albert, SK S6W 0A3.
