Rodney Gaetz

Rodney was born on August 30, 1934 in Lake Lenore to Michael & Mary (June) Gaetz. Rodney married his best friend and the love of his life, Elizabeth (Hintenberger) on May 11, 1954. They began a life long partnership which lasted 62 years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to travel spending parts of many winters in Arizona and later on, on Vancouver Island. Many life long friends were made during these trips. He spent almost his entire life as a farmer. He was a family man and enjoyed spending time with his wife, daughters and their families, his siblings, nieces, nephews, neighbors and friends. Rodney will be lovely remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 62 years, Elizabeth (Hintenberger); two daughters Audrey (Gerard) Thomas, Vivian (Don) Dancey. Grandchildren: Laurie (Bart) Thomas-Russell, Lisa (Reese) Castle, Kimberley (Stephen) Slade, Tyler (Brooklynn Borsa) Dancey. Great grandchildren Haedyn & Sydney Castle, Nevin Russell and Renn Slade. Sister-in-law Gladys Gaetz, Rose Gaetz, Geraldine Gaetz, Anne Hintenberger and Frances Couquet. Numerous nieces, nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Mary Gaetz and parents-in-law Frank & Marie Hintenberger, Brothers: Larry, Michael, James and Sisters: Mary Dressler, Nora Forster, Rose Magnus and Ethel Riffel. Brother-in-laws Henry Dressler, Matt Forster, Ted Magnus, Casmer Riffel, Joe Bodo, Frank Hintenberger, Alex Laczko and Joe Varga and Sister-in-laws: Julia Laczko, Helen Varga and four infant siblings.
Vigil of Prayer will be held on Monday May 23, 2016 from Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church 7:00pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday May 24, 2016 from Our Lady of Consolation R.C. Church 2:00pm. Memorial Contributions may be made to Saskatoon Cancer Centre 20 Campus Drive Saskatoon, Sask. S7N 4H4
