Robert F. Fitzpatrick
1927 ~ 2022
Robert Forrest Fitzpatrick passed away peacefully with his daughter Diane by his side, on August 6, 2022, at the Good Shepherd Villa Care Home in Prince Albert, SK, at the age of 94 years.
Dad was born September 19, 1927 and grew up in the Macdowall/Red Deer Hill District. In 1948, he married the love of his life, Mary Pocha. In the fall they left the farm and moved to Prince Albert where he was a Saskatchewan Wheat Pool helper.
In march 1949 he was appointed his own Pool Elevator in Red Deer Hill. This was the year his daughter Diane was born. From there, in 1952 he moved to the Pool Elevator in Holbein, and that was the year Forrest was born. Holbein was home until 1965. So many great memoires of our life there.
Besides buying grain, he sold insurance (auto, fire, hail). In the winter he bought cordwood for Saskatchewan Timberboard. There he was the Fire Chief and Town Cop of Holbein.
In 1965 we moved to Prince Albert where he was chosen to be the Manager of the new Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Farm Service Centre (where Leon’s is now) until 1976, when he was transferred as manager to take over the Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Farm Service Centre in Saskatoon.
In 1985 he retired, Dad and Mom did lots of travelling to their grandchildren’s home out of the province, R.V. trips with Vic and Diane, and spending time with Forrest and Bev at Candle Lake. They loved to be very involved with their kids and grandchildren. Dad was so very proud of all his family and cherished all the times with all. He was an amazing Dad and Grandfather.
Over the years he loved spending time with his many friends. He loved dancing, country music, playing cards, curling, hunting, camping, he loved the lake and fishing with Forrest in their boat at Candle Lake. Dad moved back to Prince Albert after Mom passed away, and moved into the Good Shepherd Villa on September 13, 2013.
We want to sincerely thank Pat and all the staff for all their excellent care of our Dad over the years. you became like one big family for him.
