1937 – 2012
Robert Paquette passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 15, 2012. A Celebration of Life will be held at 3:30 p.m., Saturday, August 25 at the Albertville Community Center. Robert is survived by his loving wife Gordeania; his daughters Lori, Marie (Terry); his son Danny (Brenda) and their children Wesley and Brendan; his sister Lauraine Parkinson; his sister-in-law Eileen Paquette as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents; his brother Leo Paquette; his brother-in-law John “Parky” Parkinson; his great-nephew Curtis Paquette. Robert was born in Rosetown on August 23, 1937 to Annette (nee Lavoie) and Homer Paquette. He was raised in Albertville where he spent his entire life until his passing. He attended school in Albertville and Gravelbourg, SK. At 17 he enrolled in the cadets, Royal Canadian Infantry Company in Winnipeg, MB for one year. Robert worked all over Alberta and B.C. on Road Construction and then from 1958 to 1960 he worked at Lorado Mine in Uranium City and after that Squaw Rapids on hydro dam construction. In 1961 he met the love of his life, Gordeania and they were married November 20, 1962. They then went to Kitimat, BC where Robert worked at Alcaan Aluminum and in 1965 they moved to Whitehorse, Yukon where he worked as a construction carpenter and where their first child Lori was born in 1966. They then moved back to Albertville where he worked on the construction of the Prince Albert Pulp Mill and then worked in the Prince Albert Pulp industry as a skidder operator and then their 2 other children were born, Marie in 1968 and Danny in 1976. In his later years he operated the water treatment plant in Albertville until he retired at 65. He was a happy outgoing person and a jack of all trades, “Our MacGyver”. He loved to be outside, gardening, fishing and tinkering in his shop. His daughter Lori’s yard is a legacy to his handiwork. He was happiest riding around on his quad, visiting and talking with his family and friends. He always had a huge smile, a sense of humor, liked to tease and had an infectious gruff laugh. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be deeply missed and forever loved. A private family interment will be held at a later date in Albertville Cemetery.
