Robert Douglas “Bob” Borrowman
1949 – 2025
Robert Douglas “Bob” Borrowman, the fourth son of Orville and Reta Borrowman of Prince Albert, was born January 25, 1949. He passed away at home on December 07, 2025 at the age of 76 after losing the battle with long term diabetes complications.
Bob was a car enthusiast his entire life. His 60 years of excellent workmanship is very evident by a basement full of trophies earned from his own project cars. After working with some of the local masters of the trade in his youth, he went on to own several service stations, then went into hot rod and custom car building full time in his shop at home. He built many high-end custom cars “from the wheel nuts up” for customers throughout western Canada. A rusted body hauled into his garage could drive out as if it came from the factory, but more likely as a high-end, modern, powerful machine with custom frame and suspension, electronic gauges, air conditioning, and other special touches. His projects could be driven in reliable comfort anywhere, if you had enough money to make it happen. Many of his customers brought him project cars they couldn’t finish. He completed and improved portions of their visions according to their budgets, then gave them the chance to finish what they started. Thousands of pictures in his collection provide testament to a life skillfully given to making the automobile world a better place! In recent years, his skills were put to use doing speciality automotive appraisals for SGI, insurance companies and hobbyists alike, and he had a reputation for excellence at this as well.
He was a founding member of the original PA Coachmen Car Club and a respected member of the local Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub. His participation in so many events is evident by his enormous T shirts collection. He will be missed by his car club friends, especially at weekly coffee at the 6th Ave A&W, and by friends and family far and wide.
Bob is survived by his son Tyler (Miki Sasagawa) Borrowman of Delta, BC; stepmother Iris Borrowman-Clark of Prince Albert; brothers Morgan (Linda) Borrowman of Kelowna, Roy ‘Buck’ (Betty) Borrowman of Alberta, Bruce (Patricia) Borrowman of Lumby, BC, and Gordon (Benita) Borrowman of Prince Albert; sisters Lois Borrowman of Prince Albert, Cathy Bendle of Prince Albert, and Tanya (Steve) Tompkins of Moose Jaw; as well as multiple nieces, nephews and foster family throughout western Canada.
Bob was pre-deceased by: his mother Reta Elizabeth (Johnston) Borrowman in 1950, Father Orville James Borrowman 1987, Grandparents Drs. Minnie & Thomas Edgar Borrowman who helped raised the 4 boys after Reta’s death, oldest brother Dale Borrowman 2009, Dale’s wife Maggie (Halkett) Borrowman 2006, Tyler’s mother Anne (Kacher) Borrowman 2018, brothers-in-law Cecil Bendle 2019 and Issac Peters 2025, and special foster brothers Don and John Maggrah.
