Robert “Bob” Henry Bergen

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness we announce that Robert “Bob” Henry Bergen passed away on Friday, January 29, 2021 at the age of 90 years. He was born September 29, 1930 in Wingard, SK where he lived on his family farm.
In the early 1950’s Bob was farming in Wingard,SK where he met the love of his life, Nettie. They married in October of 1955 and remained in Wingard until 1960. Bob and Nettie were blessed with 3 children, Linda in 1959, Rodney in 1962 and Miles in 1970. Bob started working in Prince Albert at the Sanitorium in 1960. He then went to work at the National Hotel for a brief time before taking a job at the Tech School, now known as Carlton Comprehensive High School where he worked until his retirement in 1992. In his “retirement” he worked for the City of Prince Albert, checking boilers.
Bob and Nettie remained in Prince Albert and after 43 happy years they eventually moved out of the family home. Bob, then needing extra care, moved into the Herb Bassett Home in 2016 where he resided until the time of his passing.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Nettie; his daughter Linda Bergen of Calgary, AB; his sons Rod (Laura) Bergen of Prince Albert and Miles (Lynne) Bergen of Prince Albert; 5 grandchildren, Taryn (Ryan) Hill of Calgary, AB, Kimberly (Michael) Klassen of Calgary, AB, Luke Stephenson of Calgary, AB, Hannah and Aidan Bergen of Prince Albert, SK. Bob was also blessed with 2 great-grandchildren, Alice and Archer Hill of Calgary, AB. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law Stella (Ed) Garett, Tena Bergen, Mary (Ed) Kelly and Hannah Smith; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Maria Bergen; brothers Edward, Wilfred, William “Bill”, Lawrence, and George Bergen; sister Edith Diamond; brothers-in-law Doug Diamond and Cliff Perret; sisters-in-law Lydia, Frances, and Ann Bergen; nephew Brian Perret; and nieces Debbie Larson and Connie Music.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held in the summer of 2021.
In lieu of other tributes, donations in the memory of Bob may be made to the Prince Albert SPCA – 1125 North Industrial Drive, Prince Albert, SK S6V 5T1
