Robert A. “Bus” Wallace passed away on Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK. Bus was born in Rush Lake, SK on March 21, 1920. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and served for 5 years. He was involved in a bombing raid in 1945 where he was injured and lost his right arm. He recuperated in hospital in Toronto, where he met Doris who later became his wife in 1947. Bus returned home to the farm and farmed with his dad and brother Bill until 1946 when his Dad passed away. He then continued to farm and ranch with Bill until 1975 when the farm was sold. Bus moved to Swift Current and lived there for the next 10 years continuing to work for Robertson’s Implements, the New Holland Dealer in Rush Lake. He moved north to Prince Albert in 1985 to be closer to family and lived in Prince Albert until the present time. Bus was a dedicated community man and was elected to the R.M. Council and later became the Reeve of R.M. of Excelsior #166. He also served as Chairman of the Board of Swift Current Union Hospital. He also was the Chairman of South West, SK Irrigation Board. After moving to Prince Albert he volunteered at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home for approximately 25 years. He was predeceased by his wife Doris; parents; sisters and brothers. Bus is survived by his children Judi (Howard) Brunton and Wayne (Carol) Wallace; sisters Margaret (George R.) Smith and Ellen (Ron) Smith; sister-in-law Joyce Wallace; grandchildren Pamela (Mike) Gerrand and Scott (Karin) Penner; great grandchildren Andrew and Reid Gerrand, Galena and Solana Penner; many loved nieces and nephews and special friends Pat Rawlinson and Luana Caisy. Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 pm. on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the First United Church, 223 – 3rd Avenue NE, Swift Current, SK with Reverend Sharon Ferguson-Hood officiating. Interment will be held at the Memory Gardens Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
