Rita Logodin
1933 ~ 2021

Rita Mae Logodin (nee Gordon) was born on January 4, 1933, in Rosetown, SK, and passed away on October 1, 2021, in Prince Albert, SK at the age of 88 years. Rita is remembered by her loving family: children, Janice and Jim (Jo-Anna); and grandchildren, Rachel and Dean; her sisters-in-law, Rose Chorney (Glenn Pryor), Shirley Vandevord; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Rita was predeceased by her husband, Paul; her parents, Harry and Erna Gordon; her brothers-in-law, Marcel, John Logodin, John Chorney; and her sisters-in-law, Adele LaHaye, Therese Holz, and Bertha Logodin.

Rita and family moved to Wapella, SK, where their family farmed before moving to Saskatoon, and then Prince Albert, SK, in 1945. Rita moved to British Columbia for quite some time working for BC Tel. She returned to Prince Albert in 1955 and married the love of her life, Paul in 1961.  Rita had a career with SaskTel for 32 years.

Rita loved to watch her beloved Blue Jays while sitting in her rocking chair crocheting beautiful doilies, or knitting toques and mittens, or doing gorgeous cross stitch pictures.  She did the crossword in the paper daily and kept busy in the summer, spending time at Sunny Side where she would be up early to go fishing. When she was not at the lake, she would be in her garden. The family always enjoyed the bounty of her harvest.  Family was very important to Rita, she was very close to her children and grandchildren.

The family would like to thank the staff of the Shellbrook Hospital for their kindness and caring while Rita was there before transferring to Mont St. Joseph. Words cannot express the gratitude and appreciation we have for the Nurse Practitioner, all the nurses, and especially the staff of the Country Gardens neighborhood at Mont St. Joseph Home. The end of life care for mom was full of compassion, grace, tenderness and love. I witnessed “Compassion in Action” and the family will be forever grateful.

The Funeral Service for Rita will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at St. Mark Catholic Parish, 581 9th St East, Prince Albert, SK. Interment to follow at South Hill Cemetery, in Prince Albert, SK.
