Reverend Walter Donovan
(August 3, 1925 – July 5, 2011)
Rev. Walter Donovan died suddenly and peacefully in his residence in Prince Albert on Tuesday, July 5. He had been serving as the assistant to the minister at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church since May.
Rev. Donovan had a long and fruitful life serving God in the Presbyterian Church in Canada, in public office, in community service, in poetry and in song. He will be remembered by congregations and communities surrounding Waywayseecappo, Lake of the Woods, Kenora, Mistawasis, Prince Albert, Elphinstone, Swift Current, Kipling, North Battleford and Saskatoon.
From 1960 to 1998 he and his wife Gaye (1930-1998) worked together to serve their community with hospitality, healing and song. He was committed to public life, justice, inter-faith dialogue and the care of creation. He is survived by Lynne Donovan (Phil Norton), Cole and Luke, Kerry Donovan (Flavia Rossi), Hannah, Andrew Donovan and Anna-Marie Donovan (David Black), Trystan and Emma. Also survived by sister Ruth Sinclair and brothers Howard and Bob.
Funeral to be held at First Presbyterian Church in Regina (2170 Albert St.), Wednesday, July 13 at 11:00am. Gifts in memoriam to Presbyterian World Service & Development, 50 Wynford Drive, Toronto, ON M3C 1J7.
