It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Rev. Ruth Ross (Ballantyne) nee: Hunt, late of Carrot River, SK formerly Sturgeon Lake, SK on March 6^th, 2022, at the age of 84 years. Ruth was born in Little Red Reserve, SK on July 16^th, 1937, to Abraham & Amelia Hunt. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Delphine Ballantyne; her sons Karl (Mary) Ballantyne, Percy (Emilie) Ballantyne, Wesley (Nora) Ballantyne, & Leon (Mary) Ballantyne; her adopted son Paul Ballantyne; her grandchildren Dwayne Ballantyne, Crystal, Theodore Wuttunee, Cynthia Jobb, Jessica, Joy Charles, Warren, & Jack Ballantyne, Josephine, Michelle, Conway, Carlene Paul, Percy Jr., Stanley, Sunrise, Harley Ballantyne, Maggie, Frank, Trevor, Lazarus, Clifford, Alfred Ballantyne, Clarence Jr., Garrett, Errol, Tyrone, Tyler Ballantyne, Santana, Marie, Vanessa Ballantyne, Jennifer Nadeau, & Cye Gerard; her 61 great-grandchildren/chapans; her 17 great-great-grandchildren/otanskotapana; & her daughter-in-law Lorraine Ballantyne. Ruth was predeceased by her first husband Stanley Ballantyne; her second husband Rev. Percy Ross; her children Clarence/Bad boy Ballantyne, Randall/Randy Ballantyne; her grandchildren Melissa Bighetty, Trinity Beaver, & Drake Charles; her parents Abraham & Amelia (Bird) Hunt; her brother Jeremiah Hunt; & her sisters Christy Bighead, & Sally Bird. A Wake Service will be commencing at Sturgeon Lake Community Centre on Monday, March 7^th, 2022, at 5 PM. A Funeral Service will be held at Sturgeon Lake Community Centre on Wednesday, March 9^th, 2022, at 11 AM in Sturgeon Lake, SK. The Officiant will be Archbishop Adam Halkett. A Eulogy will be read by Christine Longjohn. The Honourary Pallbearers are Irene Naytowhow, Marlene McLeod, Marie Turner, Madeline Turner, Betty Ermine, Roseline Bear, Bonnie McLeod, Irene Ermine, Rose Daniels, Marlene Daniels, Sharon Bighead, Christine Longjohn, Anita Parenteau, Vincent Ermine, Dwayne Ballantyne, Phillip Hunt (Sojo), Paul Ballantyne, Jerry Bighead, Roger Whitmore, Sturgeon Lake First Nations Leadership, Carrot River Care Home, St. Louis Care Home, and all those who shared in Ruth’s life. The Pallbearers are Brian Bird, Lazarus Ballantyne, Harley Ballantyne, Garrett Ballantyne, Terrance Jobb, & Jack Ballantyne. The Interment will take place at West Central Cemetery in Sturgeon Lake, SK.
