Fr. Gaudet was born in Bellevue on January 8th, 1922 to Hildège and Luména Gaudet, the 9th of 12 children. At the age of 14, he was sent to the Jesuit College in Edmonton to finish his education. He then went to the seminary in Gravelbourg and finally in St.Norbert Manitoba to finish his seminary years. He was ordained to the priesthood June 29, 1948. His first assignment as a young priest was in Hudson Bay, and then Marcelin. He was then named vicar at the Sacred Heart Cathedral in Prince Albert, and then principal at St.Mary’s High School, in Prince Albert. Due to illness he was forced to leave teaching and become parish priest until he retired .He served in Mildred, Léoville, Zenon Park, Duck Lake, Debden, Nipawin, Wakaw and St.Louis before retiring to Hilltop Towers in 1993. He loved being a priest and his parishioners loved him. There were never any gray areas with him, it was black or white, right or wrong, yes or no. He enjoyed a good game of bridge. He enjoyed having company, he hated to see anybody go. He valued education, travel, faith, earning a good living at whatever one chose. He worked hard, and expected the same of others.
