Rene Rabut

Rene Rabut of Prince Albert, passed away Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at the age of 96 years. He was born March 14, 1920 in Domremy, SK. He married the love of his life Anna Gaudet on November 4, 1942. They resided in Domremy where they raised seven kids. Rene joined the army and moved to Regina for two years. They moved back to Domremy where he farmed, drove school bus and ran a restaurant in St. Louis until 1978. They moved to Prince Albert and enjoyed their summers at Weyakwin fishing and picking blueberries. Fall, of course, was hunting, and winter months for playing cards and going on bus tours to the States for a little gambling. Rene enjoyed giving you a shot and taking a quarter off you playing crib. He also enjoyed curling, hunting and fishing. Today, we can all be happy that he joins the love of his life Anna on this Valentine’s Day. Rene is survived by: his children Sylvianne (Doug) Halcro, and children Derril (Kim), Debbie (Terry), Wanda (Roy); Lucy (Craig) McDougall and children Sheldon (Sue), Laurie (Alain), Lance; Irene (Wayne) Miner and children Shawn (Gene), Renee (Chris), Dallas (Wendy), Travis (Jeri-Lynn); Annette (Greg) Chicoine and children Nolan (Angela), Curtis (Jessica), Blair (Victoria), Shane (Alisha); George (Cory) Rabut and Wren (Jay Lynn), Doris’s children Shelly (Brian), Gail (Gerald); his brother Armand Rabut; his sister-in-law Leona Bredy; 46 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his wife, Anna; his parents Pierre and Eliza Rabut; his daughters and sons-in-law Raymonde (Stanley) Royer; Doris (Ken) Halcro; his grandson Edward Royer; three brothers and two sisters. We would like to thanks the staff of the Sixth Floor, Victoria Hospital. A Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Monday, February 13 in the Chapel of River Park Funeral Home, with Sister Renée Buliard officiating. Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 14 from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church. Celebrant will be Father Roque Concepcion. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel in Prince Albert, SK, 306-764-2727, Don Moriarty, Funeral Director.
