Real Edmond Gareau
Real passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 with his wife and children at his side. Real was born on March 7, 1933 to Edmond and Alexandrine Gareau. He was the eldest of 9 children. He lived on the family farm west of Bellevue until 1960 when he moved to his own farm with his wife Alice to raise their 12 children. Real was a true family man who loved spending time with his family; they were his pride and joy. Some of his favorite pastimes were sitting and having a drink with family and friends, playing cards and going to the horse races. He also loved working with his cattle and horses on the farm, hitching up the horses to go for a ride often. With Real, there was always time to go for a ride to check the roads and fields. His incredible sense of humor meant that a visit with him always led to tears of laughter. He led a life full of love and will be greatly missed. Real is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Alice (nee Schmitt), his children: Lucille (Conrad Lehmond), Annette, Roland, Helen (Andy) Klotz, Marilyn (Bob McKinnon) Wiederhold, Angie (Pete) Wiebe, Rene (Natalie), Sharon (Armand) Lajeunesse, Rita (Ron Kowerchuk) Markiewicz, Lee Ann (Ron) Meulenbelt, Eileen (Kevin) Trumier and Randy (Francine); 32 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, his siblings: Arsene (Fern), Gilles (Lorraine), Aubert (Alec Walker), Sylvette (Alfred) Wandler and Cyril (Rose); his sisters-in-law: Yvette Gareau, Majella Gareau, Marie-Ange Gaudet, Therese Gareau, and Gaby Gareau; as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
