Raymond John “Bud” Ward passed away peacefully on April 29, 2015 with his family by his side after a short bout with brain cancer. Dad was born on the family farm in the Sonningdale area on January 14, 1931. He lost his Mom at an early age and he and his sister, Louise cared for their younger sisters when their father was unable to. This created a special bond between them that lasted throughout their lives. Dad farmed the family farm and ran the Maymont ferry. He married Alice Krenbrink in 1958 and two daughters were born; Janice and Marlene. In 1976 the family moved to the Prince Albert area where Dad ran the Cecil ferry before retiring to work as a union arbitrator for SGEU. Poor health forced him to retire from this job in 1989. Dad loved to tinker with small motors and soon word got around and it was a full time job! He loved his garden especially his purple wave petunias and took great pride in his yard and garden. He took up golf in his retirement and soon golfed as much as he could. He loved playing cards and fishing and enjoyed many hours of both activities. Dad was an avid curler and loved his time curling at the East end rink. He will be lovingly remembered for his no nonsense attitude, his smile and for loving to tease little kids! Dad was predeceased by his parents Robert Ward and Gertrude (nee Krischke); his brother Perry; sister Dorothy McCrie and an infant son. He is survived by his daughters Marlene Ward (Doyle Rohovich) and Janice (Arthur Voyer) and their sons Austin and Lindsay (Danielle Lidguerre) and great granddaughters Anna and Lily; Alice Bedford, the mother of his children; brother Webb; sisters Louise (Clayton Clark) and Helen (Gene Boll) and special friend Vicki LaRose. Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Wesley United Church, 114 – 11th Street East, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Tony Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, please make a donation to the Wesley United Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
