It is with great sadness that we announce the tragic and sudden passing of Raymond (Ray) Perrault on February 6, 2011. Ray will be forever remembered and survived by his loving wife Gerri (Banda) of 35 years, his son Denis (Leah) and the apple of his eye, his seven-month old grandson Luc Marcel of Swift Current, his son Paul (Natalia) of Calgary, his daughter Renée (Justin) Fowler of Red Deer, and his daughter Danielle (Dalen Everson) of Red Deer. He is also survived by his mother, Marthe (Rouillet) Perrault, his brother Dan (Paulette) Perrault, their children Michelle and Marc (Leah) and daughter Robyn, his sister Colette (Rick) Michaluk, their daughter Kali, and by his mother-in-law, Lucille Banda and all her family. He is predeceased by his father Marcel and father-in-law, Steve Banda. Raymond Denis Perrault was born on January 24, 1954 in Vanguard Union Hospital and was the oldest son of Marcel and Marthe Perrault, growing up with his brother Dan and sister Colette in Ponteix. Ray's high school years were filled with lots of competitive sports as well as singing in a band. After high school, Ray went straight to the Royal Bank as a clerk and worked his way across numerous communities in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and Nova Scotia. During his career, he built many enduring relationships within the banking and business communities as he continuously took on the next adventure with RBC. He also pursued a Master's Degree in Business and was very proud to convocate in 2000 from the U of S. He was a loyal and committed employee of RBC for almost 38 years and on May 1, 2010, he celebrated his retirement with great pride along with Gerri, his children and his RBC family. In November, like many of his “retired” friends, he went back to work part time for the Royal Bank and enjoyed the flexible schedule. Ray had a zest for life that is contagious and allowed him to be the life of any gathering. His jokes were legendary and would always be delivered with a hearty laugh and a smile. He has been a great friend to many people and has always been a community and faith-focused person giving time to numerous organizations every day of his life. He devoted his charitable time to many service organizations over the years including the Rotary Club, his Catholic parish, Boy Scouts of Canada, Chamber of Commerce, Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club and to all of his children's activities. Ray has always been a very proud family man and shares the stories of his children's lives with all the people he meets. Ray delighted in spending his spare time outdoors with his family and his friends while fishing, camping, motorcycling (The Big Tooth Choppers) and cross-country skiing at Little Red Park. He has been a teacher, leader and mentor for his children and many others in his life and will be forever missed by all. Ray's family wishes to express thanks for the wonderful care by the Emergency Room staff at the Victoria Union Hospital in Prince Albert, especially Dr Cybil and Brigitte, the respiratory nurse who came along in the ambulance to Saskatoon. We wish to thank the Parkland Ambulance staff for their prompt and professional care in transporting Ray to hospitals in Prince Albert and Saskatoon. Extreme gratitude is offered to the staff in the Intensive Care Unit of Royal University Hospital for their professional, compassionate and caring support. The special nurses Kelly, Breanne, David, Janna, and Brenda, Dr Wong, and neurosurgeons Dr Fourney and Dr Ivanishvili did all they could to save Ray but it was not meant to be. Thanks to Father Joseph, the RUH chaplain, and also to the Pastoral Care worker for coming so promptly when they were called. A Prayer Service will be held on Friday, Feb 11 at 7pm with a Funeral Mass on Saturday, Feb 12, at 2pm, in celebration of Ray's life. Both will be held at St Joseph Catholic Church (260 25th Street E, Prince Albert, SK). Arrangements are entrusted to River Park Memorial Chapel in Prince Albert (764-2727). In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (jdrf.ca). Also, please consider giving the gift of life in Ray's memory by signing an organ donor card or becoming a blood donor at Canadian Blood Services. Email condolences may be sent to gperrault@sasktel.net. A life well lived!
