- Born on November 16, 1947 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada
- Passed away on October 7, 2025 in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada
It is with heavy hearts, we mourn the loss of our beloved father, brother, and uncle, Raymond Henry, whose love and hard work will forever be etched in our memories. Raymond’s life was a remarkable journey, spanning many years and filled with excitement. In the early 80s he met Carmen and together they were gifted with their daughter Tracy. Years later, he moved to Saskatoon to work. There he loved spending time with his sister, Doreen, brother-in-law, Len, and his nieces and nephews. Around 2007 he found a sense of calm and stability when he met Maria, and they spent 18 years together. Despite his short battle in the ICU, He was surrounded by his partner and family. Raymond ultimately found solace in the presence of his loving daughter Tracy and niece Heather, who both held his hand and offered words of encouragement until he passed away. Finally at peace.
Raymond had a fondness for the outdoors, where he would frequently spend hours by himself, savoring the simple pleasures in life: a warm pilsner, a cigarette, and the soothing sounds of old country music or the excitement of a hockey game broadcast on his trusty old dial radio. As we said our final goodbyes, he was surrounded by those he loved, and comforted him with the familiar tunes of oldies softly playing in the background on that old dial radio.
Raymond’s life was a beautiful paradox of simplicity and joy. On one hand, he reveled in the great outdoors, but on the other, he was equally content sitting in his favorite chair, savoring a warm Pilsner, and watching an array of TV shows, from wrestling to soaps, and even the news, often mindlessly channel surfing, though in recent times, he developed a fondness for APTN’s programming.
Raymond’s life was a ‘sweet’ testament to his caring nature. Like his mom, he spent his life caring for others, always having a ‘stash’ of candy ready for visitors. And, just like his dad, he was a man who worked hard his whole life, only to ‘rise’ to the occasion of retirement and live life on his own terms. Staying up all night, sleeping all day, and guided by his own independence he was still walking to the store, picking up his own cigarettes and was always cooking up a good meal. At 75 he started to slow down and would rather order in Chinese or send someone for those famous A&W Teen Burgers and not have to do so many dishes. He did not like a mess what so ever.
Raymond’s move to Saskatoon didn’t take away his love for his PA family. He remained close-knit, making regular calls and random visits (in his prime years) to show his love and care. Whether it was a planned visit or a surprise pit stop during a work trip, he would always make time for a heartfelt ‘I love you’ and a warm hug with his daughter — His family was always on his mind and in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them — memories of which he held dear to his heart.
Raymond was the ‘papa’ bear of Maria’s family, warm, loving, and cherished by all. The younger ones adored him, and he treasured every moment they spent together, filled with laughter and simple joys. The great-grandchildren were the icing on his cake, bringing immense joy and light into his life.
Raymond will be deeply missed. He was a man of style with his sharp haircut and clean shave, and his easygoing nature made him a joy to be around. His gentle soul and ability to find happiness in life’s simplest things inspired all who knew him. Though he wasn’t one for many words, his presence spoke volumes, and his smile could light up even the darkest room. We’ll remember him for his kind heart and the rare times he showed anger though he rarely showed any, but when he did – you knew he was serious!
He may be gone, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
Raymond is predeceased by his loving parents, Augustine and Stanley, sisters Mary (Patrick), Alice (Joseph), Freda (Robert), Doreen, and Gwen (Alvin), brothers Robert (Patricia), John, and Wayne, and his two special nieces, Jenny and Cindy Scragg. His nieces Linda Bindon and Linda Henry. His nephews Louis McBeth and Tommy Primeau.
Raymond’s family tree may have lost a branch, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his daughter Tracy, his Saskatoon Family, his two life long friends Ed and Victor, brother in-law Len, sister in-law Cecile, Niece Holly and numerous other nieces and nephews. His only surviving sister Lynn Bindon (Doug) will also deeply miss her brother, with whom she shared many fond memories and regular phone calls.
