Raymond Georges Boucher
(May 29, 1927 – August 26, 2011)
With great sadness and heavy hearts we are announcing the passing of Raymond Georges Boucher beloved husband for 56 years to Alice, who so lovingly cared for him until his passing.
Left to mourn his loss along with Alice (nee Lapierre) are his children Roger (Janice), Gerald (Charmayne), Albert (Michelle Cabana), Colinda (Garner) Andrews; grandchildren Colleen (Kirby), Derek (Adreanna), Dominique (Justin), Jared, Michelle, David, Sean, Maria, Emma, Tessa, Seamus, Hannah, Callum, Lucy and Anna; great grandchildren Karlen, Jaden, Gracie and Charley; and one sister Corrine (Jim) Gamelin. He was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Delia Boucher; 11 brothers and sisters.
Raymond, or Ray as all his friends and relatives called him, was born and raised in St. Louis, SK. Ray grew up a rural man. He was a miner in B.C., served in the army reserve and worked on a thrashing machine crew. He joined the Correctional Service Canada (CSC) in 1955 and lived in the single officers’ quarters until he married Alice on July 14 of that same year.
Ray was proud of his 36 years serving the CSC, but the highlights of his life included a love of the outdoors, family time especially dancing with his sweetheart Alice, morning coffee with friends, service to his community and church including 21 years at St. Laurent Shrine, countless years of scouting and service as an Elder to the Metis Society. Ray was always there to lend a helping hand when asked by family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his wife, children, grandchildren as well as relatives and friends.
Prayer Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 29, 2011 with Mr. Brian Clarke officiating. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 with celebrant Reverend Father Mathew Nguyen. Both services will be held at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 – 4th Avenue West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment will be held at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens. The family is requesting that in lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Association of Saskatchewan, 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
