Raelene Lyn Robson
(July 9, 1975 – October 10, 2011)
It is with heavy hearts and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Raelene Lyn Robson, our beloved daughter, sister, sister-in-law and aunt at the young age of 36, on October 10, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Raelene was born July 9th, 1975 in Melfort, SK to Jack and Ann Robson. She grew up on the family farm SW of Melfort at Pleasant Valley where she enjoyed all the neighbours and community events. She attended Reynolds elementary and MUCC high school. She attended the U of S and obtained a Degree in Agriculture in 1998.
She began her life-long career with Cargill in Nov. of 1998. Throughout her career she worked in Rycroft and St. Albert (both in Alberta) and then spent the last 5 years with “Her Cargill Family” in Clavet, SK. Co-workers were very close friends – almost like family! Upon moving to the community of Rycroft (so far away from home) she forced herself to be involved in many organizations – the Co-op board, the Ag Society (where we are told she planned the “best” cabarets), the school advisory committee and the curling and slow-pitch leagues. She truly enjoyed getting involved in the small Northern community and forever cherished those years.
From there she transferred to the St. Albert office where she had a short stay before moving to the Crush Plant at Clavet where she worked until the time of her passing. We, her family were so glad to have Raelene move closer to home! She was very close with the team she worked with and she cherished her coworkers. Throughout her illness, our family got the privilege of getting to know the Cargill group and we soon realized why she was so attached – what a wonderful group of people! Their never-ending support, friendship and assistance is truly amazing and we will forever be thankful for you.
After moving to Saskatoon, she joined the Kinette club and truly put her heart into all the activities and events within the organization. She was awarded the “Kinette of the Year” award in 2005. She was also the recipient of the Cargill Volunteer Award in 2007, both of which she was humbled and yet proud of. She also took great enjoyment in volunteering at the Saskatoon Ronald McDonald House. She enjoyed all the people who worked there as well as getting to know the guests that she became acquainted with.
There will never be a better daughter, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, niece, granddaughter or friend. Her love and kindness extended to a circle of friends and their families whom she enjoyed spending time with. Those with children she considered an added blessing as she loved all children so much.
She was never too tired, too busy or too sick to provide a listening ear or shoulder to cry on.
Throughout her valiant fight with cancer, she never once complained or expressed a negative thought. Her positive attitude towards life and her wonderful use of manners were an inspiration to all of us. She leaves this world having touched and influenced many lives. Her incredible warmth for people of all walks of life and never-ending positive outlook will be missed by many – as well as those rosy cheeks and that beautiful smile that lit up any room.
Raelene was predeceased by her grandfathers; Lloyd Robson (1995) and Arthur Cross (2006) and her dear father Jack Robson in 1999.
Raelene is survived by her loving mother Annie Robson, her sister Richelle (her favorite brother-in-law Kent) Rogers, nephew Kody, niece Kenzie-Rae; brother Rylee and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
At this time the family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to Dr. Michael Kelly and Aaron Gardener of the neuro team at RUH as well as all levels of nursing staff and employees (the ICU team, social workers, physio team, the radiation department of the cancer clinic and all the staff of ward 6300). It was a huge joint effort by all, for Raelene to receive the wonderful care that she did. Our heartfelt thanks to all of you for being so kind to Annie and family members during Raelene’s 4-month stay. You have all become great friends of the Robson family and we are grateful for your outstanding care and compassion. You will never be forgotten and have engraved a special place in our hearts in Raelene’s memory.
