Racie Headrick

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Racie Headrick (née Canaday). In the early hours of February 13th, 2026, after a brief illness and surrounded by her family, she was received into the arms of her Heavenly Father. Just eleven days shy of her 99th birthday, Mom leaves behind nearly a century of faith, strength, and devotion to those she cherished. Though she will miss her celebration here, we take comfort in knowing she is joyfully reunited in heaven with the loved ones she has long missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her children: Barry, Bev (Frank), Brenda (Luc), Gayle, Donna, Shelly (Dave), Lori, and Sherry (Don); along with 19 grandchildren, 32 great‑grandchildren, 12 great‑great‑grandchildren; her siblings Jim (Carol) Canaday, Bob (Shirley) Canaday, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins — all of whom we consider part of our immediate family.
Mom was predeceased by her husband, Irvine; daughter, Gloria; son, Kevin; granddaughter Lisa, great-grandsons Josh and Tanner; siblings, George and Gladys; special cousins, Ruth, Muriel, and Arnold; birth parents, Racellia (née Grimm) and Maurice Canaday; and special parents, Pearl (née Jewitt) and John Grimm.
Our heartfelt thanks go to the staff at Samaritan Place. Although Mom was there only a short time, it was clear she was in a special place surrounded by kind, caring, and compassionate people. We are grateful for the comfort and dignity you provided.
Mom lived at Elim Lodge for many years prior, and she truly loved her home. She considered the residents and staff to be neighbours, friends, and family. We cannot begin to express what you meant to her.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Crystal Wei. She was more than Mom’s caregiver; she was a friend and companion.
A celebration of Mom’s life will be held in the weeks ahead, when we gather to honour her long and beautiful journey and give thanks for the love and strength she shared with us. Service details will be shared once arrangements are finalized. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honour Mom’s memory may consider a donation to Elim Lodge (Saskatoon), Samaritan Place (LTC), Saskatoon, or a charity of their choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Hillcrest Funeral Home, Saskatoon.
Honor her for all that her hands have done, and
let her works bring her praise at the city gate.
