Phyllis Jean (PJ) Brasnett passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 17, 2012. Phyllis was born on May 15, 1925, to George and Nancy (Lund) Wood in Mozart, Saskatchewan where she grew up. She graduated from nursing in 1946 in Winnipeg. Her first job was in Nipawin where she met Lawrence (Larry) Horne. They were married in October 1947 and lived in remote northern communities where Larry worked as a conservation officer. They had three sons, Lawrence (Leh) 1950, Guy 1953 and Terry 1955. Phyllis and Larry divorced in 1972. She married William (Bill) Brasnett in November of 1975 and they made Prince Albert their home. Phyl nursed for many years with the VON and Public Health and many a new mother was grateful for her visits and help with their new baby. Upon retirement, Phyl and Bill enjoyed a close circle of friends who golfed and traveled the world. She achieved a hole-in-one at St. George, Utah. Mom enjoyed visits with these friends right up to the last few weeks. Phyl and Bill were a joy to watch on the dance floor. Mom also loved to play bridge, cook, play the piano and listen to classical music and remained a prolific reader her entire life. Phyllis was predeceased by her son Guy in 1955 and her husband Bill on May 2, 2011. She will always be missed by her two sons: Lee (Sandra) Horne and Lee's children Stacey (Scott) Gherasim, Candice (Jody) Dawson, Lawrence (Lance) (Karen); Terry Horne and his sons Dylan and Cody; Bill's children: Richard (Laurie) Brasnett, Judi (Hans) Larsen and Linda (John) Martin; great grandchildren; her in-laws George & Sadie Horne and Kay & Laurance Kirkham. Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Gray's Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West. Prince Albert, SK with Murray Acorn officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society, 301 – 2550 – 12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4P 3X1.
