Phyllis Huska

The family of Phyllis Huska, late of Prince Albert, SK, with deep sadness announces her passing on November 26, 2015 at the Herb Bassett Home at the age of 87 years. Phyllis was born on June 22, 1928 in Blindley Heath Surrey, England to parents William and Olive Humphrey, one of six children. She grew up and went to school in England, later meeting Paul Huska from Poland, who fought in World War II. They were married on August 25, 1945 in Blindley Heath. She later immigrated to Canada, leaving her family in England, and meeting up with Paul, who had already immigrated. In Canada, Paul and Phyllis were on a farm in the Foxford area for a while, before residing in Prince Albert, SK. Phyllis worked as a banquet hostess at various hotels and the Golf and Curling Club. She is a life time member of the Prince Albert Legion Ladies Auxiliary, having received her 60 year pin. Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her 2 sons: Patrick (Shelly) Huska of Cranbrook, BC and Alan (Lorrie) Huska of Prince Albert, SK; her six grandchildren; her 11 great-grandchildren; her sisters: Linda, Maureen and Sylvia and one brother Ted all residing in England; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband: Paul in 2008; her parents: William and Olive; her sister: Kath in England earlier this year; and one nephew: Darrin Gordon in England. In lieu of other tributes, donations may be made to Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary C/O G. Laird, 133 8 St E, Prince Albert, SK S6V 0V8. A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date.
