Phyllis Ruth Carlson will be lovingly remembered by her father Edward Frederick “Fred” Jordan; her mother Muriel Margaret (nee Jacobs); brother Robert “Bob” Douglas Jordan and wife Betty Florence Neufeld; nieces Shannon Gay Jordan, Margaret Ann Jordan and Joan Marie Jordan; her ex-husband Glenn Herbert Carlson; daughter Signy Cohen and her children Jenny Michelle Cohen and Jesse Shalome Janet Cohen; her daughter Gail Philline Carlson and her sons Taylor Ryan (Jamie) Howard and (their son Owen Howard) and Kyle Ashley Howard. She was predeceased by her grandson Bree Cohen Carlson. Phyllis finished her high school at Riverbend Academy for Girls in Winnipeg, MB, then went on to earn her Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Manitoba in 1953, this starting her life as mother and art organizator and instructor. Signy was born in 1954. She lived in 5 cities before settling in Prince Albert in 1965. In all cities she was involved in the organization and teaching of Art. In Prince Albert she specialized in teaching pottery glasses at the Rec Centre, then moved to the PA Arts Centre where she was the first Director and at that time in the 1970’s she was a Director on the Prince Albert Winter Festival. At the end of the 70’s she moved back to Manitoba to be closer to her aging parents. There she ran an art centre in Winnipeg and after moving back to her hometown Darlingford, Manitoba, where she and her brother both got there museum course and created the Darlingford School Museum. Phyllis moved back to Prince Albert in the 1990’s and became active with the Prince Albert Historical Society writing and publishing many articles on the history of Prince Albert. She also received a lifetime membership from them. A come and go tea and potluck dinner to honour Phyllis’ life around family and friends will be held on Monday, July 20, 2015 at the Historical Museum, 10 River Street East, Prince Albert, SK from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
