It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Phillip “Philly” Dennis Okemow, late of Sturgeon Lake, SK on August 21^st, 2023, at the age of 27 years. Phillip was born on June 3^rd, 2023 in Prince Albert, SK. Phillip will be lovingly remembered by his common-law partner Kassandra Daniels; his mother Beatrice Okemow; his birth mother Cindy Bighead; his brothers John Okemow, Alex Okemow, Arlen Bird; his sisters Felicity Bighead, & Vera Okemow; his god-sister Faith Ballantyne; his special cousins/sisters Josephine Sanderson, Wynona Ballantyne, Becky Jolene, Krista Sanderson, & Lindsey Sutherland; his uncles Calvin Stonestand, Clay Stonestand (Barb), Mervin Stonestand, Rodney Bighead, Francis Bird, & Jeffery Okemow; his aunts Lorraine Stonestand, Loretta Ballantyne (Dale), Sandra Badger, Pauline Okemow, Jonie Okemow, Violet Okemow, Janet Okemow, Leona Okemow, & Monica Bird; his granny Donna Opoonechaw. Phillip was predeceased by his baby girl Lancia Okemow; his father Russell Okemow; his older brother Dusty Bighead; his grandparents Andrew & Rosalie Okemow, & Sam & Rita Stonestand; his godparents Porky Bighead, & Rosie Bighead; his cousins James Stonestand, & Lancia Napope; his uncles Randy Badger & Raymond Jr. Opoonechaw; as well as numerous family and friends. A Wake Service will be held from August 25^th to August 27^th, 2023, at the East Hill Hall, 290 23^rd Street East, Prince Albert, SK. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 28^th, 2023, at 11 AM at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church at James Smith Cree Nation, SK. The Officiant will be Bishop Adam Halkett. The Honourary Pallbearers are the Okemow family, Stonestand family, Opoonechaw family, Bighead family, Daniels family, Sanderson family, Allcan Boys, as well as all those who knew and loved Phillip. The Pallbearers are Sam Stonestand, Keanu Whitehead, Jerrid Ballantyne, Clinton Genereaux, Dusty Stonestand, Ferlin Stonestand, Caz Bighead, Leon Stonestand, Cherokee Duquette, Dylan Stonestand, Arsen Daniels, Kyle Daniels, Brandon Daniels, & Evan Duquette. The Interment will take place at the St. Luke’s Anglican Church Cemetery at James Smith Cree Nation, SK.
