Phillip Paul Masniuk of Christopher Lake passed away October 9, 2015 in hospital in the arms of his beloved wife Katherine. Phillip will be lovingly remembered by: his wife of 42 years Katherine and the Dochylo family; his daughters Carrie and Lisa Shear; his grandchildren Cory, Lauren and Madison; his siblings Joan (Blaine), Larry (Pat), Nick (Penny) and Nancy (Loyd); as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his father Joseph Masniuk; his mother Florence (nee Houle); and his brother-in-law Blaine Williams. Phil was born and raised in Winnipeg, MB, where he attended Cecil Rhodes Elementary School before going on to Tech Voc High School. There he excelled at playing football, and along with his teammates on the Tec Voc Hornets, was eventually inducted into the Manitoba Football Hall of Fame. After high school, Phil continued on in his love for sports, playing football with the Weston Wildcats, and fastball with the Portage Mercurys. He was inducted into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame as his team took home four Provincial Championships. A tremendous void remains in this world by this treasured soul. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, October 17 from River Park Memorial Chapel.
