Peter Tomiak

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Peter Tomiak on December 17, 2023 at the age of 93.
Peter was born in Bonne Madone, Saskatchewan on April 2, 1930. He attended Bonne Madone School until grade 8 and helped on his family’s farm. Peter took on many odd jobs thereafter over the years, but moved back home after his father passed and began farming full time. During this time, he met the love of his life, Helen. They had two children, Randy and Laurie.
Peter was a member of the Golf and Curling Club and curled twice per week. You could also find him playing pool at the Heritage Centre, or Shuffleboard in Tway. He loved making his rounds to McDonald’s every day, followed by visits to the Casino where he relaxed, listened to music, and was often lucky enough to be picked to spin the wheel.
Peter was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s Disease but was still able to live life to the fullest and enjoy his life at the farm. He later took residence at Pineview Terrace where he enjoyed his stay and they became family.
Peter will be greatly missed by his loving wife Helen of 66 years. his children; son, Randy (Laurie) Tomiak and daughter, Laurie Nyirfa (Mark); grandchildren, Ashley (Chris) Delorme, Randeen Tomiak, Brandon (Katlyn) Tomiak, Jackson Nyirfa and Robbie Nyirfa; his sister, Olga Oranchuk; sisters-in-law, Anne Osowsky and Margaret Hubarewich; nieces and nephews, Pat (Brian) Thompson, Carla (Glen) Roth and James Prytula; great- grandchildren, Lawson, Rhyland, Cadence, Blake, Lukas and Milo, as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Calgary, AB.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, George and Mary Tomiak; his sisters, Annette McLeod, Victoria Prytula, and Mary Tomiak; son-in-law, Darryl Nyirfa; brothers-in-law, Orest Oranchuk, Walter Hubarewich and Victor Prytula; his father and mother-in-law, Willie, and Annie Hubarewich.
Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at St. George Ukrainian Catholic Church, 752 14th St. W, Prince Albert, SK.
