Peter Slipiec was born to Michael and Eva Slipiec on Nov. 22, 1931 on the farm at Gronlid, SK. He was the youngest of 9 children. He attended Freedom school and went to high school in Gronlid. He started farming at an early age with the rest of the Slipiec family and later took over the family farm with his brother John, and in later years his son Michael. Peter also served on the local school board for 45 years. In 1977 he married Clara Chipeur. They had 3 children; oldest Marie and younger twins Kathleen and Michael. Peter was especially proud to celebrate 100 years of farming on the Slipiec homestead in July 2014. He celebrated this occasion with many relatives, friends, and neighbours. Peter loved spending time with his family. He particularly enjoyed visits from his grandchildren Sara and Brooke. His pastimes also included enjoying nature, Sunday picnics, picking berries and mushrooms, and watching his favourite baseball team, the New York Yankees. Peter passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2015. He was predeceased by his parents Michael and Eva; brothers Steve (Minnie), Nick, Bill (Jean), Harry (Anne), and John and sisters Kay (Frank), Anne (Reg), and Mary (Frank). He is survived by his wife Clara, son Michael, and daughters Kathleen (Warren) and Marie (Dale) and grandchildren Sara and Brooke as well as numerous nieces and nephews. BLESSED BE HIS MEMORY.
