Peter Sawicki

It saddens us to announce the passing of Peter Sawicki on Monday, April 13, 2015 at the age of 82. The last few months proved to be just too difficult to overcome. Shortly after coming to Canada when Pete was 5 years old he found a passion in trapping and hunting which he turned in to a career for 25 years on the trapline near the snowfield road. We are consoled to know that he finally rests peacefully (probably tramping through a swamp somewhere tracking a moose). Left to mourn is his daughter Nancy and partner Kim Eugene Anderson; brother Alex Sawicki; niece Gloria (Fred) Graham; nephew Garry (Jeanne) Molitwenik and sons Todd, Ryan and Wade and their families; as well as friends who were like family. Many thanks go out to the staff at RUH and St. Paul’s for their great care. Thank you to the emergency doctors and nurses at the Victoria Hospital for their attention and care and of course the 6th floor staff who were always so kind and caring. A HUGE thanks to the dialysis units at St. Paul’s and especially the Victoria Hospital. The staff and patients became a second family to him which he came to care for deeply. The care he got was outstanding and made his kidney disease ‘not so bad after all’ as he’d often say. It is the combined decision to not have a service. A private family interment will be done at a later date. Those wishing to leave gifts in his memory please do so to the dialysis unit at the Victoria Hospital. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Gray’s Funeral Chapel, (306-922-4729).
