Mr. Peter Marchuk age 95, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, brother and friend died peacefully in his sleep at Whispering Pine Place in Canwood, SK on Thursday April 28, 2016. Peter was born on November 6^th 1920 in Krydor, SK to Stephen and Pearl Marchuk.  He was the third of 12 children and grew up working on the farm along with his siblings.  After finishing school at an early age he tried out many different jobs before settling in to his career as an Elevator Agent.  He moved to Debden in 1953 where he bought grain for 24 years.  In 1975 he changed careers and began building houses.  Even after he retired he continued doing carpentry work for his family. Peter met the love of his life, Shirley Boddy, when he moved to Debden. They were married on July 6^th 1956 and together they had 3 children Linda, Lyle and Doug.  Pete and Shirley had a cabin at Morin Lake where they spent all of their summers with family and friends enjoying the lake and doing lots of fishing. He also enjoyed curling and baseball – playing while he was younger and avidly watching both sports on TV later in life. Peter is survived by his children Linda (Keith) Larson of Debden, SK and their family Jessica (Burton Roy) and children, Hailey, Cain, Corbin, Dylan, Danielle, Zaya and Kullin, Tasha (Julien) Cyr and children, Mya, Rayne and Izabelle, Tabatha (Stephen MacKenzie) and children, Moxie, Finn and Ellis, LexiAnne (Brian) Crocker and children, Svea and Anika;  Lyle (Della) Marchuk of Red Deer, AB and their family, Lyndi (Kory Nixon); Douglas (Christy) Marchuk of Red Deer, AB and their family, Nick, Michaela, Jack, Jaimie and Tori;  his siblings  Rosie Babiy of Blaine Lake, SK, Sally Labatch of Saskatoon, SK, John (Rose) Marchuk of Saskatoon, SK,  Mike (Elvina) Marchuk of Saskatoon, SK; his siblings-in-law  Mike Zivcovich, Alex Balan, Gerald (Edie) Boddy and  Gerald Jean and an abundance of nieces, nephews and other relatives. He is predeceased by his wife Shirley (Boddy) Marchuk; his parents Stephen and Pearl Marchuk; his infant brothers, Mike, John and Morris Marchuk;  his sisters  Mary (Bill) Bidyk,  Jean Balan,  Ann (Pete) Kirilenko and Natalie Zivkovich; siblings-in-law Peter Babiy, Alex Labatch, Bit and Lloyd Gerow, Ted and Jean Boddy, Peggy Jean, Leana Boddy and Bill Boddy. Memorial Donations may be made to either Debden Heritage Manor or Whispering Pines Place in Canwood. The Vigil of Prayer was held on Wednesday May 4, 2016 at 7:30pm. The Lay Readers were Chantel Bisson and Ed Boutin, the Readings were shared by Lyndi Marchuk, Dan Jean and Hailey Witzaney. The Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday May 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Father Tuan Doan as celebrant. The Cross Bearer was Corbin Witzaney, Candle Bearers were Mya Cyr and Jamie Marchuk, Bible Bearer was Jack Marchuk. The Readings were shared by Lyndi Marchuk, Michaela Marchuk and Hailey Witzaney. Jessica Larson, Tabatha Larson, Tasha Cyr and LexiAnne Crocker shared memories of Peter. Music was provided by Organist Monica Svendsen, Soloists Christy Marchuk, Gilles Francoeur and the Debden Choir.  Both services were held at St. Jean Baptiste Roman Catholic Church in Debden, SK.   Peter was carried to his final resting place in the Debden Cemetery by Mike Zivkovich, Adam Gerow, Matthew Jean, Nick Marchuk, Cain Witzaney and Tristen Zivkovich. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Beau ”Lac” Funeral Home, Marianne Turcotte Funeral Director – Shellbrook, SK.
