Penny Lee Crawford (nee Sherwood)
1951 – 2014
With great sorrow the family announce the passing of our beloved Penny at Laurel Place hospice, Surrey, B.C. on Dec. 12, 2014, surrounded by her loving family.
Penny was born in Prince Albert, Sask. On July 8, 1951, to Ken & Esther Sherwood. She received her education at Vincent Massey School, Prince Albert Collegiate institute and the university of Sask. She excelled in music and thought piano and accordion in Prince Albert for several years. She married the Love of her life, Warren Crawford, in 1973 and they moved to Surrey, B.C. They were blessed with two sons, William and Kent.
Penny loved people. She volunteered as a Scout leader and later trained other to be leaders. After retirement she spent many hours as a volunteer for the Red Cross. She was always available to drive friends or strangers to appointments or to lend a helping hand or sympathetic ear where needed. She had a warm, generous, loving spirit.
She spent many happy holidays with her family at Anglin Lake where her greatest pleasure was going fishing with her dad. She loved to knit and crochet and many people were the recipients of her beautiful handmade gifts of scarves, shawls, Afghans, Siwash sweaters and other creations.
Penny is survived by her loving husband, warren, her son William (Alli) her son Kent, grandson Charlie, her mother Esther Sherwood and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth and brother Robert.
A memorial service will be held in Surrey on January 10, 2015. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to valley view funeral Home and Cemetery in Surrey, B.C.
