Paul “Tom” Lavallee of Prince Albert passed away around 7:30 pm on June 21st , 2023, at the end of a battle with cancer at St. Paul Hospital in Saskatoon.
Tom was born on December 12th, 1938 to Alcide and Rose Lavallee in Prince Albert, SK. He was the oldest son of 6 siblings: Doreen, Lillian, Tom, Floyd, Marlene, and Felix.
He is lovingly remembered by his children: Kevin (Sherry), Shelley (Brent), and Tracey (Rick); his grandchildren: Kalyn (Jade), Lindsey (Andrew), Courtney (Cody), Jae-Lyn (Aaron), Leanne (Brant), Alysha, and Zachary; and his great grandchildren: Dominic, Louella, Camille, Arlo, Isla and Eva; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Tom was passionate about his country and served in the Royal Canadian Navy as a young man. He took great pride in this part of his life and he was always up for telling stories about his time spent in service. After his time in the military, he settled into life in Prince Albert. He was a salesman with Old Dutch where he remained for almost 40 years, criss-crossing the province on a weekly basis.
He loved sports and played softball and senior hockey for a number of years before moving into coaching and would eventually become an integral part of the development of minor hockey and softball in Prince Albert. He would go on to be inducted into the Prince Albert Sports Hall of Fame as a builder in 2006, and then later in a couple of team categories.
He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Dorelle and his sister, Doreen.
Tom’s Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 29, 2023, at St. Mark’s Parish, 581 9th Street East, Prince Albert, SK, with Father Manh Nguyen officiating. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Tom’s Memory to your favourite Minor Sports Association.
